Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Mix until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined. Add the flour and baking soda, mixing just until incorporated. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Scoop the dough and form into 1 ½-inch balls. Place them on your prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie. Gently press 4-5 Valentine’s M&Ms into the top of each cookie ball.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges turn a light golden color. The centers will look slightly underdone—this is perfect. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
